The views from the house and garden are truly stunning by anyone's standards. This photo is taken from the balcony at night, by the light of the moon !
Surrounding mountains rise to over 3'000 meters, but the presence of the Rhône valley to the south and west insures long days with nothing in the way of the sunlight. In the autumn, fog often accumulates in the valley, leaving the mountains bathing in bright sunlight.
Sunsets can be spectacular and the occasional summer thunderstorm is impressive !
The light changes all through the day and the view from the chalet evolves continuously.
In wintertime, there is generally snow on the ground for six to eight weeks between December and March. However the strong sunlight and the south facing slopes mean the snow generally melts quite quickly. This view is taken from the garden looking down onto the chalet, due south towards the "Dent de Morcles" peak at over 3'000 meters.
There are plenty of sledging possibilities around the chalet, as well as cross country skiing and walks in the surrounding alpine landscape. This view shows the "Dents du Midi" mountain range with 7 peaks all rising to about 3'200 meters and is taken from the front of our garden shed.
